7:30 PM and the place was empty. Was very surprised. I know it's off season. The food and prices were fine and the staff was nice. Good wine special.

I'm a huge Macaroni Grill fan but this fell short. Everything was great and I ordered my all time favorite dish and it tastes nothing like what it used to. It wasn't good and I would hate to even share publicly but I ate anyways to later find a hair at the bottom of the dish.

Duh to Mica! No mac and cheese at an Italian restaurant! Duh! Duh! Duh! Anyway, four of us had lunch today here. Service was kind and accommodating. Each of us had a meal we enjoyed. I had the Florentine Chicken, which was very tasty. The restroom was clean. What else would one expect from a chain restaurant, I don't know.

Macaroni Grill is one of my favorites. We stopped in after arriving at the airport on Wednesday evening. Make your own pasta was delicious as usual and so was the Bibb and Bleu salad. My mom ordered the lobster ravioli and said it was perfect. Started out with the bruschetta and peppadew peppers which were both phenomenal as usual. My sister felt like her salad lacked flavoring, but other than that everyone enjoyed their food.

This place should just be called "Grill" because they don't have any Mac & Cheese on the menu! Seriously? I would have been ecstatic to have something remotely nearly as flavorful as the Real brand Mac & Cheese from the grocery store for about $10 per plate but alas I was forced to have some other pasta I really wasn't craving. Won't be going back to the Grill anytime soon.

Having eaten in at least 5 other Macaroni Grills around the country I am a believer they are the best of the Italian chains. My new wife thinks Olive Garden is the best Italian food, but is now starting to see with me things are different being a NY EyeTalian Boy! Got a $5 coupon via email today and brought her in for some top notch Italian food. Walked in at 445 nobody at the hostess stand. After several minutes a guy who looked to be the manager seated us. As he sat us he said Cisco will be your waiter. I said, "That doesn't sound like an Italian name." He replied I think he's Spanish. Just what I want a non-Italian in an Italian place. Well the manager must have gotten the message and sent a young white female server to us. The menu has changed since I last ate at this chain. We ordered 2 Tapas for $9 getting the Brushetta and a shrimp and white bean spread on bread. Both were excellent! When we placed the dinner order I asked the server to help me choose between 2 dishes and she was helpful. Food is brought by food runners and the server was gone. Both dinners were great, she had Parm crusted sole over orzo with sun dried tomato's. Wife absolutely loved it, I tasted it and it was great! My whole wheat pasta with chicken and veggies was great. We could see Cisco working the tables all around us and he looked to be a real pro, more than I could say for our invisible server. We were done eating for more than 10 minutes with our plates pushed forward and at least 10 different employee's including the manager walked by us. I was just about to get pissed and figured out that the manager must have gave us to the female server instead of Cisco after my comment. Problem was we were not seated in her section and she forgot about us. How would she have felt if I forgot about her tip? She was very competent when we actually saw her. Finally the manager walked by and saw we were ready for some service and he cleared out plates. My wife said I want dessert and he said I will get you a menu. A moment later a different waiter brought us a desert menu. Right after that the missing waitress stopped by and left us our check saying she would take it when we were ready. Come on now get a clue! We sat for several more minutes before my wife grabbed a waiter that was walking by and said she wanted dessert. He said he would send our server right over. A few minutes later the missing waitress came back apologizing to us. She took the dessert order and after another 10 minutes brought us our dessert and the check. I placed my card in the jacket and handed it right back to her not wanting to wait for her to return again. Over all the food was great and we liked the new menu, but the service was inexcusable! I am going to their website to complain after I get done here.

We ordered curbside take away from here a couple of years ago, right after it was rebuilt and had a bad experience - the place was not that busy, but still no one came out to the car and after we waited about 20 minutes we went in to get our food, no one was around to help us. We saw a group of workers huddled together laughing and not paying attention. So we decided to try again this past weekend, hoping it had gotten better (several years later), but we had the exact same experience except our food was not very good at all. Very disappointing.

Food is decent. Very rustic feel to many of the dishes. We tend to like them slightly better than Carraba's which is similar. Service is usually good. The occasional snafu is understandable compared to the amount of times we've eaten here. We'll definitely be back.

Macaroni Grill is our favourite Italian restaurant, so we took the safe bet and dined here when we were in our "Ft. Myers leg" of our Miami trip. We met our friend and our party of 5 (2 boisterous kids) was seated within 10 minutes. We ordered the following: 1) Chicken Marsala for the Mrs. 2) Make your own pasta for our friend. 3) Lasagna, Chicken Parmesan, Fettucini Alfredo combo dinner special. 4) Pasta for the toddlers The food was delicious, and the service was friendly and fast. Our total with drinks, tip etc. came to $70 bucks. I recommend going to Macaroni Grill if you have a craving for Italian food.

What happened? I know it's off season, but I was one of three people in the place at 12:30. I love MG, but it doesn't look like they can last much longer in this location. Parking lot in tough shape, little dirty, building needs painted. All bad signs. Too bad - rustica was good as always.

Had a gift card to use and decided to finally use it. We walked in and it immediately smelled of dirty feet; and I don't mean in the Parmesan cheese kind of way. My aunt ordered sea bass and it looked like tilapia. Waitress said it was a different kind of sea bass. Seriously, the chef trying to pass off talapia for sea bass? Tried it and it was awful. I ordered the pumpkin tortellini. I couldn't tolerate it. There was something in it that was just unsettling. Didn't want to send it back for fear of someone spitting in whatever I ordered in its place. Everything about the place screamed DIRTY!!! Never had this experience at other locations. Freakin yuck!!!

My wife has been a bigger fan of Macaroni Grill than I have been. On the last visit the roles were reversed. She really didn't care for her pasta dish. I had a sausage and potato dish that was pretty good. Macaroni Grill is getting very stale. They need to update the menu and start using more local ingredients. If you want good italian food in the Fort Myers area you can do a lot better.

Food was ok. Desperately needed seasoning & salt which is shocking for a chain restaurant which typically drown food in salt. Will not return most likely seeing we are visiting FL.

When I walked in for lunch, there was no one there to greet me! No one at the hostess stand near the door. Employees milled about, looked my way, and continued their milling. It was a solid 4 minutes before anyone approached and seated me. I almost walked out. I was informed that the menu had just changed today. Gone are the varied lunch options. In there place, a lunch option called, "3 Course Tasting" that consisted of two mandatory items, and your choice of four different pasta dishes. The rest of the menu consisted of items that look like they belonged on the dinner menu. I was confused, so I ordered the "3 Course Tasting", as it was clearly labeled, "Lunch", with the penne arrabbiata. A couple seated near me checked out the menu, and one mentioned that the menu was new to him, indicating that he'd been here before, and perhaps frequently and recently. They sent the waitress away twice while they studied the new menu. They left after coming to the conclusion that the new menu wasn't for them. The male half said to the waitress, "You're going to lose a lot of business with that menu." He wasn't wearing robes or sandals or anything of the sort, but I still think he was somehow prophetic. Read on, my Disciples. My iced tea tasted like coffee. Gods, I hate that. The little empty plate that is already on the table: Dirty. Very dirty. Some sort of black residue with old-food smears that never should have found its way to a table. I asked for balsamic vinegar to accompany my olive oil and bread. When that came, the spout to the vinegar bottle was broken. The waitress pointed this out to me and poured for me. You know what happens when you try to pour without that bartender-type spout on the top? That's right. It dribbles down the length of the bottle and goes all over the place. When my food arrived, there was a yellowed Caesar salad. It was the core-lettuce. None of the leafy green stuff. Not inedible, but when I think "salad", I think "green". What accompanied the salad... well, I'm still not sure what it was. Sitting on a scoop of red sauce was what looked like a deep fried roadkill toad. Same size. Same color. Same texture. I cut into it, expecting to be crunching through toad bone. Close! It was deep fried cheese with an incredibly crunchy outer husk. Not appetizing. Not even a little. The portion of pasta they brought out was huge! This was a lunch portion? I'd hate to see the sizes of their dinner entrees! The pasta was fairly bland and tasteless. Not the "spicy" dish my waitress touted it to be at all. Something's happened at Romano's Macaroni Grill. Something not good. Whoever is making the decision to put this kind of food out should be fired, or worse yet, made to eat their own toad-cheese and then fired! I should have followed my first instinct and walked out when there was no hostess to seat me. I'm not returning.

OK...i came back to use up the rest of my gift card. We ordered the Calamari and I swear it was the worst I've ever had, anywhere! For the entree I ordered the Pasta Milano which I used to think was pretty good, but any more. Everything seemed to have a "corporate" taste to it and once again I'm reminded why I don't frequent chain restaurants.

2 1/2 STARS We stopped in here for a late lunch. The place is still very much corporate cookie-cutter in appearance, ambiance & staff conduct. We had the Sausage Pizza and the Pasta Sampler (there are photos of both). The pizza had a nice thin crust, but unfortunately that's about all it was. The sauce & sausage was dabbled in the center with a one inch ring around the exterior with nothing on it. The Pasta Sampler was average in quality but absurd in quantity. This is why Americans are fat. Only a really fat person or someone who was planning on becoming fat would possibly eat the meal. Even the waiter said that he always wraps this meal up for people to take home. Why do they do this?

Went to Ft. Myers location yesterday. Husband orders steak medium-well. I ordered salad. Steak was medium-rare. Salad had so much garlic that you could not find all of it under lettuce. Did not send steak back b/c what might happen to your food when not in sight. Waitress asked me how I liked the salad, I said it was great. She informed me that she could only eat half of it...as she stares at my empty plate. She never did come back to see if we needed our drinks refreshed. Would have complained but, they had your debt/credit card. Will not be going back.

This was our second visit. We liked it both times. The previous time I had the chicken Marsala, which was very good. This time I had the porcini mushroom ravioli ($13.50), which was exceptional. This was the best Italian dish I can remember having in any restaurant. My husband had the Classic Italian Bake ($16.00). He liked it. Lots of meat and a large portion. He also had the chocolate cake ($5.00) which a chocolate lover would like. The service (Katrina) was efficient and pleasant. The music was suitable for an Italian restaurant and the volume was just right! The decor is trendy and comfortable. I will be back...and I will order the exact same ravioli. It was delicious.

Typical Italian fare. Food was pretty good. My friend had the Italian bake and I had the chicken parm. I wasn't a fan of the pasta that came with the chicken. It tasted almost like it had been sitting around though we arrived towards the start of dinner time. The server Alexis was excellent. Efficient friendly and caring. Will consider returning. There were a few other items I might like to try.

Our waitress was kind and funny. That's the best I can give. IDK how someone can butcher a pasta with lemon butter -- too much lemon, not enough butter.

Disappointing ! Fried calamari was tiny in size and portion. My eggplant Parmesan was just okay. Fried ravioli very spicy. We dined with 8 other couples and, although service was fine, our waiter, David, encouraged 4 of us who were getting a glass of red wine, to order a bottle of wine as it would be a better deal. My husband told me the bottle of Pinot noir was $45. Not a good or better deal in my opinion.

Wanted takeout from here last night. Gave them a call, was put on hold for ten minutes, finally hung up, called back, same result. Really frustrating! I ended up going to Carrabbas. Update 10/2- Went here last night with my daughter. She wanted pizza and I didn't. I thought this place would be less crowded than Carrabbas. The parking lot was completely empty. I didn't even think it was open anymore but I saw and employee smoking a cigarette in front so realized it still was. Got in and the place is empty. Had two waiters help us. One was a creeper and said "oh hey there pretty girl" to my daughter. Hello, dude, it's 2012 and that's creepy, why don't you step off my kid? The other guy was really, I mean, REALLY excited to have a table. So excited he screwed up my order. The food has done downhill so far it's basically salt laden pasta and bread. I was super disappointed and will NEVER go back.

I like to come to the Macaroni Grill to meet friends for happy hour. They just changed their happy hour menu to a tapas menu, but it is still a really good deal. You cannot beat the $5 pizza during happy hour. The pizza is good. The bartender, Brian, is awesome.

Had not been here in years. Now I remember why. The food is just ok. I ordered the sea bass it had such an off flavor and smell I sent it back. Then ordered tomato basil soup instead and got the house minestrone. The manager blamed us for ordering the wrong thing. One of the waitresses said "no one likes the sea bass" Good to know the mangager should listen to her.

Normal chain like atmosphere and food. At least this way you can count on consistency of food quality. We'd hit a number local places and it can be pretty spotty. I have to say the service was great and our waitress (Michelle) was witty and made the experience a little better than most chains. Also, enjoyed the "honor system" of table wine - chianti and chardonnay were perfectly acceptable. Kids are welcome.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
